More on Marketing

From my friend Ben Glass, here is an article about a Las Vegas attorney who calls himself "The Heavy Hitter." In addition, this guy has a commercial where he spins like a tornado. UGH!

I know some people think that the market will regulate this behavior. But, lets be honest: it doesn't. If the market did, people would stop with these ads. My guess is that this guy makes a ton of money every year. And, we, as attorneys, should be ashamed. It makes every attorney look bad.

Can you be creative about marketing? Absolutely. See Ben Glass's advertising or Bob Kraft's use of advertising. Good guys with great marketing. Go talk to Allison Shields about setting up a marketing program. She will give you great ideas without doing dumb things like turning yourself into a tornado. I am all in favor of creative, outside the box marketing.

However, if you don't think that this makes all of us look bad, you are wrong. It gives everyone a black eye. And the only way to stop it is through regulation (and remember, I am a free market economist by education).
